The PDR El Criollito Robusto features a blend showcasing Dominican Criollo 98 and Mexican San Andres tobaccos. Abe Flores redesigned the recipe to emphasize Dominican tobacco, combining an Ecuador Criollo 98 wrapper with a Mexican San Andres binder. The filler consists of entubado-rolled Dominican Criollo 98 and additional Mexican San Andres leaf, creating a medium-bodied profile with nutty, coffee, cedar, and white pepper notes.
The cigar’s Ecuadorian Criollo wrapper contributes subtle sweetness, while the San Andres binder adds earthy depth. Dominican and Nicaraguan long-fillers provide balanced complexity without overwhelming strength. Initial flavors include toasted nuts, black pepper, and cedar, transitioning into darker cocoa and coffee undertones with a leather-like finish.
Construction highlights:
- Open draw producing consistent smoke output
- Even burn maintained through the smoking session
- Ash holding firm between inches
Pairing options extend to espresso or bourbon due to the cigar’s coffee and spice elements. The 5” x 50 Robusto format delivers a 45-minute smoking duration, suitable for both casual and experienced enthusiasts. Packaging options include single cigars and 20-count boxes.
