Kool Cigarettes

Kool Cigarettes were introduced in 1933 by Brown & Williamson as the first menthol cigarette brand to achieve nationwide distribution in the United States. Marketed under the American Tobacco Company, Kool Cigarettes pioneered mentholated tobacco blends and established a dedicated following. The product lineup includes multiple variants: Kool Filter Kings provide full-flavor menthol in King-size formats, while Kool Super Longs extend the length to 100 mm for extended sessions. Kool Blue offers a milder menthol experience in both King and 100 mm options. The wider-format Kool XL Green and XL Blue cater to preferences for larger filters, with Green emphasizing full flavor and Blue delivering a smoother profile. Kool Boost incorporates a capsule in the filter that releases additional menthol when compressed. All variants use menthol-infused filters and blended tobaccos to maintain consistent cooling sensations.
Kool Cigarettes are manufactured by ITG Brands, a subsidiary of Imperial Brands, following ownership transitions from Brown & Williamson and Reynolds American. Historically, the brand gained prominence in the 1950s–1960s through targeted marketing strategies, particularly among African American communities. While primarily distributed in the U.S., Kool has been available in international markets including Canada, Japan, Germany, and Australia. The brand avoids synthetic additives in its menthol formulations, relying on natural mint extracts and proprietary cooling agents.
