Introduced in 1994 to commemorate Padron’s 30th anniversary, the Padron 1964 Anniversary Series uses tobaccos aged for four years. The Padron 1964 Torpedo Maduro features a box-pressed torpedo shape measuring 6" in length with a 52-ring gauge, honoring Cuban cigar traditions. Its dark, oily Maduro wrapper encases aged Nicaraguan filler tobaccos, contributing to a balanced combustion and structured flavor delivery.
Construction & Design
The Padron 1964 Torpedo Maduro utilizes a box-pressed format with sharp edges and uniform seams. The Maduro wrapper’s oily sheen reflects its extended fermentation process. A combination of aged Nicaraguan leaves ensures consistent smoke output and ash retention.
Flavor Profile
Initial notes of black coffee bean and dark toast transition into earthy undertones mid-session. Secondary flavors include bittersweet chocolate and Brazil nut, supported by a woody core. The final third introduces subtle cocoa bean accents, concluding with a tangy, wood-driven finish.
Burn & Draw
The open draw facilitates steady smoke volume, while the even burn minimizes relights. Combustion remains stable despite the tapered torpedo head, with a medium-firm ash holding for over an inch.
Aging & Tradition
All tobaccos in the Padron 1964 Anniversary Series undergo a minimum four-year aging process. The box-pressed design references pre-embargo Cuban cigar techniques, maintaining structural integrity throughout smoking.
