The Montecristo Edmundo Cigar derives its name from Edmundo Dantes, the protagonist of Alexandre Dumas' novel "The Count of Montecristo." Introduced in 2004, this cigar became the first addition to Montecristo's standard range since 1971. Each box contains 25 cigars crafted with tripa larga, totalmente a mano construction, using long filler leaves and entirely hand-rolled techniques. The blend incorporates Vuelta Abajo tobaccos from Cuba's Pinar del Río region, known for medium-to-full-bodied profiles with bitter-sweet and tangy undertones.
Measuring 5⅓ inches (135 mm) in length with a 52 ring gauge, the Edmundo vitola features a parejo (straight-sided) shape. The cigar's flavor spectrum includes cedar, black pepper, and roasted coffee notes, complemented by secondary hints of almond and dried citrus peel. A double binder leaf contributes to its consistent combustion, with an average smoking duration of 50 minutes per cigar.
