The Cohiba Siglo I debuted in 1992 as part of a series commemorating the 500th anniversary of Columbus’s New World discovery. Originally reserved for Cuban officials and diplomatic gifts, the brand derives its name from the indigenous term “cohiba,” referencing the tradition of tobacco use encountered during colonial exploration.
Measuring 4.3 inches with a 42-ring gauge, this Petit Corona-sized cigar features a blend of Vuelta Abajo region tobaccos. The aluminum tubo packaging preserves freshness and portability. Its construction ensures consistent combustion, with a mild-to-medium body profile.
The flavor progression opens with cedar and cream notes, transitioning to roasted coffee and light earthy undertones. Secondary characteristics include subtle sweet spices and a faint leather essence. Hand-rolled in Cuba, the cigar uses a tripa larga blend of seco, ligero, and volado leaves for balanced complexity.
As the smallest in the Siglo line, the Cohiba Siglo I maintains the series’ hallmark creaminess and mocha undertones. Its compact format delivers a 30–40 minute smoking duration while retaining the brand’s signature flavor architecture.
