Introduced in 1992 alongside five other Siglo series cigars, the Cohiba Siglo IV commemorates the 500th anniversary of Columbus's arrival in Cuba. This Corona Gorda-sized cigar (46 ring gauge x 5.5") underwent a two-year maturation process before international release in 1994.

The Cohiba Siglo IV utilizes Cuban tobacco subjected to three distinct fermentation stages, including the brand's proprietary third fermentation. This method enhances flavor development through extended leaf aging. The blend combines select filler leaves from Vuelta Abajo with a Connecticut-style Cuban wrapper.

Flavor progression includes:
