The Tatuaje Black Label Private Reserve Toro originates from blender Pete Johnson’s effort to recreate a personal blend gifted to him during a trip to Cuba. Developed in collaboration with Nicaragua’s Garcia family, this cigar features a 100% Nicaraguan tobacco blend, combining Criollo 98 and Corojo 99 leaves sourced from Esteli and Jalapa regions. The Toro size measures 6 inches in length with a 50-ring gauge, wrapped in a marbled Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro leaf known for its oily texture and rustic appearance.
Limited to 1,000 boxes of 20 cigars per size (Britanicas Perfecto and Toro), this release will not be reproduced for several years. The blend emphasizes traditional Cuban-style construction, with the Garcia family overseeing all tobacco cultivation. The Toro’s flavor profile opens with pronounced black pepper and earthy notes, transitioning into cocoa, espresso, and leather mid-smoke. Subtle sweetness and dried fruit undertones emerge, supported by a medium-to-full strength build.
The Tatuaje Black Label Private Reserve Toro maintains an even burn and smooth draw, attributed to its densely packed Nicaraguan filler and binder. The Habano Oscuro wrapper contributes a dark, toothy exterior while regulating combustion. Designed for enthusiasts seeking bold, layered profiles, this cigar avoids added sweeteners or artificial enhancements, relying solely on aged, Garcia-grown tobaccos. Its production scarcity and Nicaraguan terroir-driven character position it as a collector’s item among modern boutique blends.
