The Highclere Castle Victorian Toro Cigar draws inspiration from the cigar culture of 19th-century Highclere Castle, the filming location for Downton Abbey. Produced in collaboration with Foundation Cigar Company’s Nick Melillo, this 6x52 Toro features an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper and Nicaraguan binder/filler tobaccos grown in Esteli, Jalapa, and Ometepe volcanic soils.
Blend Composition
The cigar uses a Habano-seed wrapper from Ecuador’s upper primings, combined with aged Criollo and Corojo fillers. The blend leverages Nicaraguan tobaccos cured for 3-5 years, selected for combustion properties and flavor balance.
Flavor Profile
- Initial Third: Cedar, roasted almonds, honey sweetness
- Midpoint: Dark cocoa, espresso, cinnamon spice
- Final Third: Oak, black pepper, nutmeg, leather undertones
Construction & Performance
The Highclere Castle Victorian Toro maintains a steady burn line with dense ash formation. Its open draw produces medium-bodied smoke volume, transitioning from creamy textures to bolder espresso notes in the last third. The cigar’s 52-ring gauge allows balanced heat dispersion during 90-minute sessions.
Packaging Details
Sold in 20-count boxes with embossed gold foil accents replicating Highclere Castle’s architectural motifs. Each cigar bears a dual band system – a primary band with the castle silhouette and secondary band denoting “Victorian” series.
