The Highclere Castle Victorian Toro Cigar commemorates the cigar traditions of Highclere Castle, the historic estate featured in Downton Abbey. Hand-rolled in Esteli, Nicaragua, it features an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper with tobaccos from Esteli, Jalapa, and Ometepe’s volcanic soils. Master Blender Nick Melillo designed this 6” x 52 Toro format cigar for Foundation Cigar Company.
The blend combines Criollo and Corojo leaves with a Nicaraguan binder. Its flavor profile progresses through three stages:
- Initial notes of cedar and roasted almonds
- Mid-section transitions to dark cocoa and espresso
- Final third reveals earthy leather and black pepper
Construction uses aged Nicaraguan filler tobaccos, producing a medium-bodied smoke with consistent burn. The oily Habano wrapper contributes to the cigar’s combustion properties and visual texture.
This release follows Highclere Castle’s historical connection to 19th-century cigar culture. The selection includes two cigars packaged in tribute to Victorian-era cigar preservation methods.
