Description

Foundation The Tabernacle Toro features a blend of Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers, a Mexican San Andres binder, and a Connecticut broadleaf Maduro wrapper. The cigar measures 6 x 52, balancing size and flavor intensity for a medium-to-full strength profile. Developed by Nicholas Melillo in collaboration with AJ Fernandez, it is crafted at Tabacalera Fernandez using tobacco from Fernandez’s La Soledad farm.

The construction follows AJ Fernandez’s signature techniques, ensuring a consistent draw and dense smoke output. Initial notes of white pepper transition to flavors of dark chocolate, espresso, roasted nuts, and baking spices. A subtle earthy tobacco undertone persists, complemented by a sweet finish and smooth retrohale.

Melillo, former Head of Production at Drew Estate, leveraged his expertise from creating Liga Privada No. 9 and Nica Rustica to develop this blend. The Tabernacle Toro shares similarities with those cigars in complexity and Nicaraguan tobacco focus. Its name reflects Melillo’s childhood memories of cigar sessions with his grandfather, symbolizing the humidor as a sacred space.

Pairing recommendations include coffee, port wine, or dark beer, ideally after meals. The Toro vitola’s 6-inch length allows gradual flavor evolution, making it a standout in Foundation’s portfolio alongside El Gueguense, another highly rated release by the brand.
