The Foundation Olmec Claro Robusto originates from a collaboration between Foundation Cigars founder Nick Melillo and the tobacco-rich San Andres region of Mexico. Inspired by the ancient Olmec civilization, which cultivated tobacco in the same area over 3,000 years ago, this cigar features a Mexican San Andres Claro wrapper aged for three years. The binder and filler consist of Nicaraguan tobacco, with filler leaves bale-aged to enhance flavor complexity.
Measuring 5 inches in length with a 50-ring gauge, the Olmec Claro Robusto uses a golden-hued San Andrés Claro wrapper known for its smooth texture. The blend delivers flavors of cedar, earth, and almond sweetness upon ignition, transitioning to nutmeg and coffee notes as the cigar develops. A medium-bodied profile maintains balance without overwhelming the palate.
Construction of the Foundation Olmec Claro Robusto ensures an even burn and consistent draw, supported by tightly packed Nicaraguan and Mexican filler tobaccos. The cigar pairs effectively with coffee or aged rum, aligning with its earthy and spicy undertones. Its shorter format caters to enthusiasts seeking a focused smoking session.
