In 1946, Zino Davidoff created a cigar line drawing inspiration from wine-making principles. The Davidoff Grand Cru Diademas Finas Limited Edition features Dominican San Vicente filler tobacco aged in Premier Grand Cru Classé red wine casks. This marks the brand’s first figurado format in the Grand Cru series, measuring 161mm (6 3/4") with a 50-ring gauge.

The blend incorporates three Dominican tobaccos: Piloto Seco from the Cibao Valley, San Vicente Mejorado Ligero from the Yaque River region, and wine cask-aged San Vicente Seco. The Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade wrapper provides a golden-brown appearance with visible veins.

Flavor progression includes:

• Initial citrus notes transitioning to pepper and roasted nuts
• Dominant dark cherry aromas with oak undertones in the second third
• Walnut intensity with fresh spice and vanilla accents in the final third

Construction details reveal a 2-year fermentation process for the binder and filler tobaccos. The cigar’s tapered head requires a straight cut, while the foot utilizes a dual-layer wrapper for consistent combustion. Smoke output measures 22% above standard Grand Cru vitolas due to the open draw design.

Limited to 15,000 individually numbered boxes globally, each cigar undergoes 47 manual quality checks. The packaging features French oak veneer treated with Bordeaux wine lees, matching the cask treatment of the filler tobacco.
