The Por Larranaga Larranaga 47 Cigar, abbreviated as PL47, is presented in a Semi Boîte Nature box containing 50 cigars. This marks the first UK Habanos Regional Edition packaged in this unvarnished format. The exterior features a recreated historical papeleta design, consistent with prior UK Regional Editions from the brand. Unlike standard Habanos cabinets, the cigars are arranged in three rows of 13 and one row of 11, omitting ribbon ties. Only 1,500 numbered boxes were produced, exclusively distributed in the UK market.
Historical Context and Aging Potential
Registered in 1834 by Ignacio Larranaga, Por Larranaga is the oldest continuously produced handmade Habanos brand. While classified as light to medium-bodied, its cigars are recognized for long-term aging capabilities. The 2021 UK Regional Edition follows predecessors like the 2007 Magnifico, which gained collectible status due to their aging performance.
Flavor Profile and Construction
The Por Larranaga Larranaga 47 Cigar measures 7 inches with a 47-ring gauge. The blend delivers initial notes of honey and floral undertones, transitioning to toasted nuts, sweet spices, and cocoa. Its golden-hued wrapper ensures an even burn and smooth draw, typical of Cuban craftsmanship. The cigar provides a 45-minute smoking duration, suited for pairing with beverages or standalone enjoyment.
