Description

Trinidad, a Habanos brand established in 1969, shares a history of exclusivity with Cohiba. Originally reserved for diplomatic gifts, it became commercially available in limited quantities in 1998. The brand draws its name from La Santisima Trinidad, a UNESCO World Heritage Site on Cuba’s southern coast.

Product Line Expansion

The initial Trinidad offering featured only the Fundadores vitola (4 ⅞" x 40). Three additional sizes joined the portfolio in 2003: Reyes (4 ⅓" x 40), Coloniales (6 ¼" x 44), and Robusto Extra (5 ⅝" x 50). The Robusto T (5 ¼" x 54) expanded the range further in 2009. All Trinidad cigars undergo production at El Laguito, Cohiba’s flagship factory, using filler and binder tobaccos from Vuelta Abajo.

Blend Composition

The Trinidad Media Luna Cigar utilizes Vuelta Abajo-selected tobaccos from Pinar del Río. This region’s volcanic soil produces leaves with aromatic intensity, featuring a blend of ligero, seco, and volado primings aged for optimal combustion.

Flavor Profile

Initial notes present earthy oak and white pepper, transitioning to roasted coffee beans and cedar mid-smoke. The final third introduces dark cocoa with a subtle creaminess, underscored by a lingering sweetness characteristic of Trinidad’s signature fermentation techniques.

Construction Details

A slightly textured wrapper leaf with visible oil content ensures consistent combustion. The triple-cap finish and firm box-press shape facilitate an even draw rate of 45-60 minutes, depending on smoking tempo.

Ideal Occasions

The Trinidad Media Luna Cigar serves as both a post-meal digestif companion and a standalone sensory experience. Its balanced intensity accommodates morning or evening smoking sessions, requiring no specific beverage pairing.
