The Rocky Patel Tabaquero Robusto marks the first collaboration between Rocky Patel and master roller Hamlet Paredes, a former Cuban artisan known for international cigar-rolling demonstrations. After relocating to the U.S. with Patel’s assistance, Paredes developed this blend using non-Cuban tobaccos for the first time. The cigar features a San Andres wrapper, Brazilian and Mexican binders, and Nicaraguan long-filler leaves.
Tabaquero Robusto Composition and Flavor Profile
Presented in a 5 x 50 Robusto format, the Rocky Patel Tabaquero Robusto showcases a dark Nicaraguan wrapper with an oily texture. The blend combines earth and cedar notes in the initial draw, transitioning to flavors of cocoa, coffee, and black pepper. A mild spice emerges on the retrohale, balanced by undertones of cream. The medium-bodied profile reflects Paredes’ experimentation with Nicaraguan tobacco’s flavor extraction potential.
Construction and Pairing
The Rocky Patel Tabaquero Robusto maintains an even burn with consistent smoke output, attributed to its triple-seam cap and packed filler. Its structured ash holds for over an inch before shedding. Pairing options include aged bourbon, espresso, or dark rum to complement its earthy and spicy elements. The cigar is sold in boxes of 20, with cellophane sleeves preserving freshness.
