The Foundation El Güegüense The Wise Man Lancero represents Nicholas Melillo's inaugural blend for Foundation Cigars. This Nicaraguan puro uses tobaccos hand-selected by Melillo, including filler leaves from 2011-2012 harvests. Production occurs at TABSA facility under Melillo's supervision, capped at 225 units daily.
Measuring 7" x 40 ring gauge, the Lancero features a Nicaraguan Corojo wrapper with visible oil content. The construction combines Nicaraguan binder and fillers from multiple regions. Primary flavor components include coffee and cocoa from the Corojo leaf, transitioning to leather and wood notes mid-smoke. Citrus zest emerges through the cream-textured draw, concluding with white pepper retrohale.
- Wrapper: Nicaraguan Corojo
- Binder: Nicaraguan
- Filler: Nicaraguan (Estelí, Condega, Jalapa)
- Production: 225 cigars/day maximum output
The El Güegüense Lancero maintains combustion stability through its 90-minute smoking duration. Open draw characteristics accommodate frequent retrohaling without heat buildup. This format emphasizes wrapper leaf influence while maintaining structural integrity through TABSA's box-pressed rolling technique.
Original release packaging includes 13-count boxes with production batch codes. Aging potential is documented for 3-5 years based on vintage filler tobaccos. Companion vitolas in the El Güegüense line share the same base blend proportions with ring gauge variations.
