The Montecristo Edmundo Reserva Cosecha 2018, released by Habanos S.A. in early 2024, uses tobacco leaves exclusively from the 2018 harvest. This limited-production cigar retains the dimensions of the classic Edmundo vitola, measuring 135 mm in length with a 52 ring gauge.
Constructed with aged leaves from Vuelta Abajo’s 2018 crop, the blend features a tripa (filler) of Seco, Ligero, and Volado leaves. The capote (binder) and capa (wrapper) utilize sun-grown tobacco from San Juan y Martínez. The aging process exceeds standard Reserva requirements, with all components aged for at least three years.
Flavor characteristics include:
- Initial notes of toasted cedar and black pepper
- Mid-smoke transitions featuring espresso and cured leather
- Subtle sweetness from fermented tobacco sugars
Packaging follows Habanos’ Reserva series standards, with each lacquered box containing 20 numbered cigars. The cedar lining maintains 70-72% humidity levels during storage.
