The La Galera Imperial Jade Toro represents the sixth release in the La Galera series and marks José “Jochy” Blanco’s first use of a Cameroon wrapper for the brand. This Dominican-made cigar features a Cameroon outer leaf with a smooth texture, paired with a Criollo binder and a filler blend of Criollo 98 and Dominican Piloto Cubano tobaccos. Produced at Tabacalera Palma, the Toro vitola (6 x 52) delivers a medium-strength profile characterized by creamy and spicy notes.
The La Galera Imperial Jade Toro utilizes a Cameroon wrapper known for its oil-rich surface and subtle sweetness. Beneath this lies a Dominican Criollo 98 binder, which supports a filler of aged Dominican Piloto Cubano and Criollo 98 leaves. The construction ensures consistent combustion and an open draw, maintaining flavors of cedar, roasted nuts, and white pepper in the initial third. Mid-smoke transitions reveal cocoa, dried fruit, and vanilla undertones, followed by secondary notes of leather and toasted almonds in the final third.
Handcrafted in Santiago, Dominican Republic, the La Galera Imperial Jade Toro emphasizes balanced complexity through its tobacco selection. The Cameroon wrapper’s natural earthy qualities are complemented by the filler’s Dominican-grown Criollo and Piloto Cubano leaves, aged to optimize flavor integration. This release exemplifies Blanco’s focus on blending rare wrapper varieties with well-aged Dominican tobaccos.
