Introduced at the 2008 Habanos Festival, the Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure Especial expanded the brand’s portfolio as a 5.5-inch cigar with a 50-ring gauge. Originally previewed as a 2004 Edición Limitada, this Cuban cigar features a blend of flavors including coffee, earth, cocoa powder, and graham cracker undertones. Its medium-bodied profile combines complexity with approachable strength.

The Epicure Especial utilizes a 50-minute to 1-hour smoking duration, progressing through distinct flavor phases:

• Cedar and earth in the initial third
• Toasted nuts and cream mid-profile
• Dark chocolate, leather, and spice towards the final third

Packaged in aluminum tubos, the cigar maintains humidity protection while allowing portable storage. This format preserves the triple-secado fermented tobacco blend’s integrity, consisting of Vuelta Abajo region filler and binder leaves wrapped in a Colorado capa.

As an extension of Hoyo de Monterrey’s Epicure line, recognized for balanced flavors since the 1865 brand founding, the Especial shares the No.2 Robusto’s 50-ring gauge construction while adding 0.625 inches in length. Current production batches show consistent combustion characteristics with minimal relighting requirements.
