The Rocky Patel A.L.R. Second Edition Toro is handmade in Nicaragua using a Mexican San Andrés Maduro wrapper with a slightly textured surface. The binder is Honduran, while the filler combines Nicaraguan and Honduran tobaccos. This 6.5” x 52 cigar undergoes a two-year post-roll aging process in cedar-lined rooms to integrate flavors.
Aging Process & Blend Refinement
The “A.L.R.” designation (Aged, Limited, Rare) reflects the cigar’s extended maturation timeline. The Second Edition enhances its predecessor’s blend through additional aging, with the maduro wrapper’s oily sheen indicating developed sugars. Cedar-lined storage during aging contributes to the tobacco’s smooth combustion properties.
Flavor Profile & Physical Characteristics
Initial draws reveal espresso and cocoa notes, transitioning to earth and leather mid-smoke. The final third introduces toasted oak elements, with caramel undertones detectable in retrohale. The Toro’s 52-ring gauge supports consistent heat management, enabling gradual flavor evolution across the 90+ minute smoking duration.
