The Cavalier Genève Black Series BII Viso Jalapa Torpedo features a 6" x 52 torpedo shape with an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper displaying a slightly oily texture. This Nicaraguan puro utilizes Viso-grade leaves exclusively from Jalapa Valley, known for producing tobaccos with balanced earthy-spicy-sweet characteristics. The cigar is distinguished by Sebastien Decoppet's signature 24-karat gold leaf diamond adornment applied with vegetable glue, which is technically smokable though primarily decorative.
Construction & Composition
Beneath the dark Habano wrapper lies a binder and filler combination of Nicaraguan Viso Jalapa tobaccos aged in cedar cabinets. The blend achieves medium-full strength through high priming Viso leaves, which contain elevated nicotine levels compared to Seco or Volado harvests. The triple-seam cap facilitates a smooth draw, while the torpedo shape concentrates smoke output toward the final third.
Flavor Development
- Initial third: Black pepper and nutmeg dominate the retrohale, tempered by faint caramel sweetness
- Middle third: Roasted coffee emerges alongside cedar notes from the aging process
- Final third: Cocoa powder and charred oak intensify as combustion reaches the narrowest portion
Burn characteristics include a slow combustion rate averaging 85 minutes, with ash forming tight concentric rings that hold for 25-30mm before dropping. The gold leaf decoration remains intact through normal handling, though vigorous wiping may dislodge specks from the band area.
