Each cigar features a pigtail cap, a characteristic of the Laguito No.1 vitola. Production occurs exclusively at Havana's El Laguito factory, the original site where this size was first crafted by Eduardo Rivera in 1963. Initially created for Fidel Castro, the vitola later became commercially available as the Cohiba Lanceros in 1982.

This 2013 UK Regional Edition uses tobacco from Cuba's Vuelta Abajo region. The blend transitions from initial cedar and floral notes to toasted nuts and sweet spices, with a creamy texture sustained by the cigar’s slow combustion. The slim 38-ring gauge requires specialized rolling techniques, a skill maintained by El Laguito’s artisans. Habanos SA designated this factory as the sole production site for La Reina cigars, marking the first time a Regional Edition release has been entirely manufactured at El Laguito.
