The Montecristo Edmundo Cigar, presented in a box of 25, draws its name from Edmundo Dantes, the protagonist of Alexandre Dumas’ novel The Count of Montecristo. Introduced as the first new size to Montecristo’s standard range since 1971, this 52-ring gauge parejo vitola measures 5⅓ inches (135 mm) in length. Crafted by Habanos S.A., it utilizes tripa larga (long filler) tobaccos sourced from Cuba’s Vuelta Abajo region, rolled entirely by hand.
The blend incorporates aged leaves from Vuelta Abajo, delivering a medium to full-bodied profile characterized by earthy undertones and subtle sweetness. Primary tasting notes include:
- Cedar and spice
- Light coffee accents
- Hints of almond nuttiness
- Citrus undertones from orange peel
Constructed with a double cap and tightly packed filler, the Edmundo ensures a consistent draw and even combustion, averaging a 50-minute smoking duration. The box of 25 cigars features Montecristo’s signature gold-and-white branding, with each unit wrapped in a semi-glossy lacquered finish for humidity protection.
