Handmade at the Tabacalera Fernandez factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, the Foundation Charter Oak CT Broadleaf Lonsdale features a USA Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper with Sumatran binder and Nicaraguan filler tobaccos. The medium-bodied blend develops earthy and chocolate notes complemented by cedar undertones. Its Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper contributes an oily texture and deep flavors from extended aging.

Wrapper and Blend Composition

The rugged Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper encases a core of Nicaraguan filler leaves and Sumatran binder. This combination creates a balanced combustion rate, with the Broadleaf’s natural sweetness tempering the Nicaraguan tobacco’s earthy intensity. The filler blend utilizes leaves aged between 3-5 years to ensure flavor consistency.

Flavor Development

Initial draws reveal dominant earth and dark chocolate tones, transitioning midway to subtle brown sugar sweetness. Cedar emerges in the final third, accompanied by faint peppercorn spice. Smoke density remains medium throughout, with no harshness detected in retrohale.

The 6 1/4" x 46 ring gauge Lonsdale format promotes a slow combustion rate, allowing gradual flavor evolution. The construction maintains consistent smoke output with an even burn line. The draw provides moderate resistance, balancing air flow with dense smoke production.
