Gauloises Cigarettes

Gauloises cigarettes originated in 1910 under SEITA (Société d’exploitation industrielle des tabacs et des allumettes), named after the ancient Gauls to reflect French heritage. Initially crafted for military personnel, Gauloises cigarettes featured short unfiltered designs with a strong tobacco blend. The brand expanded under Altadis after SEITA merged with Spain's Tabacalera in 1999 and later became part of Imperial Brands in 2008. Key product lines include Gauloises Brunes with dark air-cured tobacco for a bold flavor, Gauloises Disque Bleu in filtered formats with blue packaging, Gauloises Blondes using lighter flue-cured tobacco, and Gauloises Maryland Filter for milder preferences. Gauloises cigarettes maintain global distribution in France, Germany, Morocco, and select regions across Europe and Africa.

Production of Gauloises cigarettes relocated to Poland in 2018 following the closure of France's Riom facility. While historically linked to cultural figures like Jean-Paul Sartre and Pablo Picasso, the brand no longer markets in the UK or Russia. Gauloises cigarettes retain classic packaging elements such as the Gallic rooster emblem and wartime slogans like "Liberté toujours" ("Freedom forever").
