Understanding snus mg levels

Snus comes in different nicotine strengths, usually measured in milligrams per gram (mg/g). The right strength depends on your tolerance—too weak and it won’t satisfy, too strong and it might make you dizzy or nauseous.

Typical Snus Strength Ranges

  • Mild (7.5–14 mg/g): Often labeled "mini" or "white" portions. Good for beginners or those who prefer a lighter buzz. Examples: General White, Göteborgs Rapé White.
  • Medium (10–20 mg/g): The standard range for regular users. Balanced flavor and nicotine. Examples: Ettan Original, General Original.
  • Strong (20–32 mg/g): For experienced users or heavy smokers switching to snus. Examples: Siberia Brown, Odens Extreme.
  • Extra Strong (32+ mg/g): Rare but available for those who need an intense hit. Example: Thunder X.

How Strength Is Measured

Snus strength is always listed as mg/g (milligrams of nicotine per gram of snus). Unlike nicotine pouches, snus portions are usually consistent in weight (around 0.8–1g per portion), so the mg/g value gives a clear idea of the actual nicotine dose.

What Strength Should You Choose?

  • New to snus? Start with mild (8–12 mg/g) to avoid discomfort.
  • Former smoker? Medium (12–20 mg/g) usually works best.
  • High tolerance? Strong (20+ mg/g) might be necessary, but don’t overdo it.
